Write a letter for the Ayoreo-Totobiegosode

1. Write your letter, then 2. Complete it and 3. Send

The Ayoreo-Totobiegosode suffer greatly from the theft of their land – although the Paraguayan constitution guarantees Indian land ownership, the Ayoreo’s land has almost all been taken over by ranchers, forcing them out of their forest and making it very difficult for them to support themselves.

Many of the Indians’ relatives continue to live uncontacted in the forest. Unless this area is quickly secured and transferred to them, much of it will be destroyed.

How you can help

Please write to the President of Paraguay and the President of INDI, the Paraguayan government’s Indian affairs department, to urge them to title the Ayoreo-Totobiegosode’s remaining lands to them without delay.

You can use this sample text or write your own:

Will my letter make a difference?
Yes. Time and again, letters from Survival supporters have called governments and organisations to account. Policies have changed and lives have been saved.

Should I post, fax or e-mail?
The most powerful way is to print and post your letter. We will e-mail you a ready-to-print PDF of your letter, together with postage information.

We sometimes also publish e-mail addresses or fax numbers where there is a realistic chance of these being read. However, e-mail addresses change and fax machines get unplugged. If you can, please post your letter.
