Survival supporters handed out leaflets about the eviction of the Kalahari Bushmen outside Christie's in Paris on 27 June as De Beers diamond jewellery was auctioned inside.
De Beers has launched an initiative with six French actresses, who have
designed pieces of diamond jewellery to be auctioned in aid of their
chosen charities.
Survival has written to the actresses, Caterina Murino, Clotilde
Coureau, Emilie Dequenne, Judith Godrèche, Marion Cotillard and Mélanie
Doutey, alerting them to the plight of the Bushmen. The Botswana
government has evicted the Gana and Gwi Bushmen from their land in the
Central Kalahari Game Reserve – land on which De Beers is exploring for
diamonds.
Survival supporters spoke to Caterina Murino outside the auction about the Bushmen.
