The judges in the Bushmen
court case have ordered that the whole court will fly to the Central
Kalahari Game Reserve, to establish whether preparations for diamond
mining are taking place there.
The order was made on the insistence of government lawyer and special
advisor to the President Sidney Pilane, who is intent on proving there
is currently no diamond mining taking place in the reserve. Neither
side has suggested that diamond mining is taking place in the reserve, and the question is in any case irrelevant to the issues before the court.
The current session of the court case finished today; it will resume on the 2nd August.
