Bulldozers penetrate Ayoreo forest

This clip shows how the heartland of the Ayoreo-Totobiegosode Indians is being illegally penetrated. The first 15 seconds show what the land surrounding the Ayoreo forest now looks like: it has all been bought up by farmers, who have cleared the forest, sold the timber, and are growing crops or rearing livestock. The rest of the clip shows tracks which have been bulldozed through the Indians' land, despite the presence of injunctions barring this kind of work. This forest is home to an unknown number of uncontacted Ayoreo Indians.

Ayoreo song

Filmed by a Survival campaigner in the Ayoreo-Totobiegosode community of Arocojnadi, this clip shows Erui Etacori singing in the distinctive Ayoreo style, swaying on a stick held in one hand, and rattling a gourd filled with seeds in the other. Songs are not fixed, but can be improvised on the spot, and can be on any subject.
