Papuan tribes and the Grasberg mine
BBC report on the tension and violence long associated with the
Grasberg copper and gold mine in Papua (Irian Jaya). The large numbers
of Indonesian soldiers around the mine have for many years been accused
of human rights violations against the local tribal people, who hold
the mine responsible for polluting their lands.
